Dam Report September 2009
The dam was inspected in
September 2008 by Mike Leslie of Willett, Hofmann & Assoc. He notes that, no significant repairs are
required. The newly poured concrete
overlay and rip rap satisfy past concerns.
The inspection cycle has
started for this year (2009). The
survey is complete.
The drainage valve in the
drop inlet tube should be opened and cycled.
The grass, seeded after last
years work has recovered quite well although it suffered during the drought.
I have requested Fischer
dredge the catchment pond.
The board requested I scope
out requirements for dredging and creating a settling basin. I contacted IDNR. No permit is required for the lake dredging, but drawings are
required for the settling basin.
However if it is less than one half acre in size, a permit will probably
not be required.
A new regulation has been
passed which requires that paid lake managers be trained and certified. Paul Mauer, one of the contacts at IDNR
responsible for training, would like this to apply to all lake managers, so
this might impact us in the future.
We have been asked to
consider joining the Illinois Association of Lake Communities, $100/yr for
associate, noon voting, membership. I
can not attend the next meeting in Rockford 7th Oct. Meeting after that at Woodhaven
